Woman shares her genius trick for when you want to hang up on someone without seeming rude

April 8, 2021

A woman has gone viral on TikTok for sharing a trick on how to hang up your mobile phone without it being obvious to the caller.

Phone calls can be annoying if you’re not in the mood to talk or if you don’t recognise a certain number. So, this sneaky trick explains a way of stopping a call without seeming rude by ignoring the call or hanging up.

Social media star Woah Vicky has shared a great phone trick on the YouTube series Unfiltered with Zane and Heath. It wasn’t long until the clip went viral on TikTok and she was regarded as a “genius”.

In the video, Vicky’s phone begins to ring. She doesn’t know who’s calling so answers, “Oh wazzup.”

Vicky cleverly switches her phone to Airplane Mode and explains, “I do this to people when I wanna hang up.”

She explains switching to Airplane Mode disconnects the call. This will display to the caller “call failed” instead of “call ended” if someone abruptly hangs up on them.

This makes it appear as though the call was cut off. Another bonus of this trick is that when a phone is on Airplane Mode, the call will not be able to reconnect.

One guy told her, “That is genius,” and Vicky replied, “I always do that. It will say reconnecting.”

The clip on TikTok, which has been posted on the @unfiltered account now has over 11 million views.

There were thousands that left comments, including, “Smartest thing I’ve ever seen.”
